Who wasn’t excited when it was announced that Garth Brooks is coming to Fargo in May?
Based on the recent “breaking of the Internet” last Friday when tickets went on sale, it seems like just about everybody was.
I was lucky enough to get tickets….and I felt like all of the steps were a bit of an emotional roller coaster ride. (Maybe a little over dramatic there….oh, well!)
Emotion 1: Excitement
Garth is coming! We need to get tickets!!
Emotion 2: Anticipation
It might be tough to get tickets. We need a battle plan. We plan to have three of us on the computer trying for tickets.
Emotion 3: Nervous Preparation
9:20 – Computer is up and running. I’m in an online waiting room?? Maybe I should open another window?
9:59 – Virtual waiting room is still up. Cell phone is in front of me with my phone ready to dial (tried earlier but got hung up on). My hands are shaking a little. I think I can see my heart beating through my shirt.
Emotion 4: Hope
10:00 – It’s go time!
Emotion 5: Waiting….Come on, come on!!
I’m not getting through. I’m on hold. I’m still in the virtual waiting room…..Nooo!!
Emotion 6: YES!!!
I never got through. Not once. Not even an hour later. BUT, my brother-in-law got through on his apparently magical computer. Tickets have been secured. Score!!
Emotion 7: Relief and Celebration
Sending a HUGE thank you text to brother-in-law who has probably been calm and collected through this whole process. Calling everyone in our party to share the great news!
Emotion 8: Bummer….
Checking the fallout. Other friends were unable to get tickets, even though they opened an additional show. Garth, you broke the internet in North Dakota! Some people got connected via phone only to somehow get disconnected right before purchasing. Others tried and tried online, never to see available tickets, while others were able to add tickets to their cart but were then kicked out.
Hopefully, hopefully the process will be much smoother this Thursday when they go on sale again. Best of luck to you if you are going to try for tickets!
